Thank Player Djo and Sniwez in K2 for contributing their commander guide to us!

After our great update of the game, some commanders got optimized and new commanders came out.
Here you can see Djo and Sniwez's comprehensive evaluation of current commanders, which could give you suggestions when you wanna unlock or promote certain commanders.

Hello, I have been reading this post, and since I have been finding it difficult to clear WW 2-18, I was wondering how to unlock Gorell as a commander as he appears to be very important and powerful?

    you have to 3 STAR the elite missions to get a Commander coin. The missions can be re-run or use the blitz function on them. Drop rate usually every 3 battles or so

Interesting read, but honestly there are too many listed as "Must have". I'd like to know more details. Maybe list all the tanks together and rank exactly who are the best tanks and how do they compare with each other, for example.

Also could do with a stats-wise comparison if that's at all possible. Otherwise I just read that everyone is "Must have" and any of them will work fine, which defeats the whole point of the exercise.

    @himannv I think the guide is great. I do agree that certain commanders are listed as Must Have when they're really not but I would argue the reason why they are listed that way is that it depends on your goals and objectives while playing the game. For example, if you were only concerned with TG then Arya is definitely a must-have.

    The thing is, you gotta figure out what works for you. Sansa and Jeane are both listed as must-haves but really you only need 1. Since Sansa is given to you at the beginning of the game you may as well ignore Jeane until you're ready to get her as a luxury commander. I'd say focus on the essentials like getting an Infantry tank, a Spearmen tank, a Cavalry tank, 3 solid damage dealers and boom you have your 6 must-haves.

    It gets even easier when you're F2P as there is practically no choice.

    Stated above is for F2P's. For P2P the same thing applies, it goes back to how much of something you need and realistically you need 1 infantry tank, 1 spearmen tank, 1 cavalry tank, 3 damage dealers and 1 healer.

    Find the best commanders that you can get P2P or F2P and that's your must-haves.

    To go a little further and to help you out, here are my opinions of the commander according to their roles from best to usable.

    infantry tank - Jon > Andrea > Hailey > Chris
    spearmen tank - Gorrel > Gorrel > Gorrel
    cavalry tank - Kevin > Russell > Robb
    damage dealers (F2P only) - Arya > Soren > Shelia > Arslan > Merrel Peke
    Healer - Sansa > Jeane (no comment on Margery)

    Was a huge work for me and I don't specify in what they are Must have but I'll do it when I can! Some are must have in TG, others in expeditions vs specific leaders, others in Weirwood and others for PvP and depend on your playstyle x).
    So yeah lot of work to do on it again but many peoples ask for a commanders / badges guides before

All these guides are made by players from the community. It takes time and a lot of efforts are put into this. The best thing to do is to gather information from all these threads and study them the best way you can. There are different playstyle and so many possibilities! Try them, suggest them.

    I do appreciate that it took time and effort to do this and I'm in no way devaluing the contribution. I'm just pointing out that it lacks detail in terms of comparison between Commanders. If I want to choose a combination of Commanders or want to know which ones to focus on, I cannot learn that by reading this as the details are too sketchy.

Yes, most of the commanders say must-have, but you also have to look at the other columns where they work best or are most effective at (Weirwood, TG, expedition, etc).
