Getting Near the Third Gold Star

It would be nice if there were a counter or bar to show how close we are to getting this third gold star in battles. I've played the 2-18 mission countless times, but I still haven't gotten the third star. Is there some hidden trick to it? Or is it just based on the number of times played?

The "trick" is simple. Don't have any of your Lords die.

You don't need a bar or anything. It's based on how many of your commanders survive the battle.

1-2 surviving commanders, = 1 star

3-5 surviving commanders = 2 star

6 surviving commanders = 3 star

(Ok, the waiting 600 seconds to reply is a pain in the ass. 10 minutes duuuude!)
