I must say that I'm a bit empathetic to both sides of the frustrations and angst that both the players and the mods experience. It would seem that we are all at the mercy (or lack thereof) of the DEVs. We, the players, experience the glitches that spoil our enjoyment of the gameplay. The mods, bless their hearts, have to put up with enraged players that complain, bash, and otherwise rant about not getting the proper support that is expected.
I know from experience of managing a frontline call center how it can be for the mods and oftentimes, it isn't pretty. As a player, I, too, have my issues with the game. What does seem to be lacking for everyone (players and mods), is some means to triage a problem adequately before forwarding it on to the DEVs. For example, a simple transaction log would confirm the delivery/non-delivery of rewards and the like. This would enable only the true failures to go to the DEVs and even perhaps eliminate some of the support requests directed to the mods. This is just one example of an improvement that would benefit ALL of LoA and potentially reduce most of the frustrations.
Now, on the other side...the support side, some mechanism for feedback on the real issues would be good and also reduce a lot of angry players. It is understandable, however, that if you mods don't get feedback, you can't very well report it to the originator of the reporting. Such would also reduce the frustration level of the mods who are dedicated to actually assisting the players.
So essentially, the bottom line is that GTA needs to step back and address the gameplay issues with a greater priority. It was pointed out in another thread how quickly they respond to problems with the recharges vs. how little attention is given to the gameplay issues (wasn't one of my threads, by the way). As I have pointed out several times, players are leaving the game because of the lack of resolutions to problems. Many of those I'm sure are paying players and not free ones. That's a reduction in their income stream which, if they were to fix many of the bugs, they might be able to salvage those players and retain that otherwise lost income.
The three factions (players, mods, and DEVs) have to work together to make LoA a much better, more reliable game for everyone to enjoy.Translate |
