When you have extra shards from building up the collection of them perhaps with the extra be able to trade for other shards that are needed. I have an amount that almost can be sythed to make something but am short so maybe be able to trade the shards i dont need for perhaps the ones i do as well as more options in spending group buy vouchers and areubus coins and such. If it helps they have added a smelting event that lets you get rid of them. course from the one time its been out we couldn\'t get other shards and not all shards was available yet to be exchanged.
