The Eternal War guide by Tricky Reply:16| View:2608
Edited by donr16 at 2017-5-18 18:43

Eternal war is starting soon again so i thought it was a good time to try and write a small guide and a few tips to help those i can. This  post will be followed by some other posts with tips and some strategy plans, so let me finish it first before commenting. There might be some grammar mistakes, so forgive me for that.
Let's start with some general advice, the two most important things a warrior need to know

- When EW first started, it became available only to servers 1-28, as a test i guess, and then it was available to the rest of us. I was playing on US server back then with a different name. One guy (sorry i forgot your name mate) from those first servers bothered to write his first impression of that new event. Between his words, there was one phrase that it turned out to be a big lesson for the later wars: "Never, ever, follow someone who is obssesed with a specific target for days or even for just one day. He is either a small kid or he has no idea about strategy." That was his biggest legacy regarding EW and i pass it to you now, hope you will follow it. It's the best for you and for your faction.

- The second thing you need to know and to follow as well is, always read the Faction's chat. Even if you don't understand English at all, even if you know that translating everything is impossible during the battles, have the faction chat open. Ask at your own language 'what we do next", there will always be someone who speaks your language. And if not, it's easier for faction leaders to translate one question from one person than the one person to translate the entire conversation from English. Someone wil answer you, someone will inform you what the plans are, someone will tell you something, just don't ignore what your faction is saying.

(Translating the above important notes in French, Spanish and in German with the help of google translate since they are the most spoken language in EU servers that i am playing now. just to help as many as i can.)

P.S.: It's impossible to translate everything that will follow in any other language than English, so you need to do that on your own. More general advice will follow, i just had to separate those two above as i rate them as the most important ones.

The different kind of players all factions have

- The team players: Those kind of players are playing for their faction to win. They always read faction's chat, they always get involved (some more some less) in faction's conversations about plans and other things. They care more about their faction winning the war than if they finish first in some rankings (this doesn't mean that a player cannot finish first if he/she will be a team player). The last thing is very important because some ppl believe that if they'll become "farmers", they will have more chances to finish first. WRONG! This group of players are important for all other kind of players because if your faction will win, you will owe it to them since they will have keep the enemies away from you so you can farm free. And because of those players, you the farmers, have a chance to farm as they keep the enemy away from you.

An example: You faction is attacking on the right side of the map because that's where your enemy has been gathered. However, there are couple of important strongholds in the middle that need to be taken as well (or couple stronghold behind enemy line). While your "team players" group is fighting the enemy, you can read the faction's chat and see if they need help somewhere. You will still avoid fighting the enemy if you don't want, but you will help your faction by attacking the stronghold that are more important for all of you. So if you are a farmer type of player, it is good to assist them during battles, support each other, you can all work together for your faction to win. This is one of the reasons that makes the "read the faction's chat" one of the two most important advice.

- The Farmer type of players: These type of players are what the word itself says, they farm just to farm. Usually these type of players don't get involved with faction's chat. This may be because a) they don't care, they just wanna finish high on ranking, the care more about themselves, b) simple because they don't understand Enlgish (since English is the most spoken language) and c) because they belong to another type of players, the "spies". Usually the farmers are pissing the team players because they are being ignored at faction's chat but a good leader must not underestimate the power of farmers, that is very wrong and it is happening often. A good leader in my opinion must take advance of farmers and the key words here are the bold letters at the start of this chapter, "all factions have them", this is very important for a smart leader.

An example: You are facing the enemy's main force in the center and you are about to lose your border from them. It is 100% that their farmers will follow to farm. Make a breach on the right border, give their farmers something to attack without facing the enemy. This is just an example on how you can take advance of enemy's farmers since all farmers are doing the same thing, they avoid the enemy. And this is important because as we will learn next, number of players is playing a very important role.

- The spies: Now, this is a special category for which you can't do anything about it. Most commonly they are second accounts of other faction's members and they exist only to ruin your plans. The leaders are saying for example "guys, don't attack the dragons" and they will attack. The leaders will say "guys, don't use weapons" and they will use. They will do anything just to sabotage the plans. And the spies are there also for that exact reason, to learn the plans. It is better not to discuss the plans before battle starts with the enemy, just choose your leaders, let them make the plans on their head, and during the battle, just follow them. It's the only not to ruin your plans unfortunately. If you ask me, the spies are a lame way to fight, that's very low.

Attack vs Defense vs BR

- In general and in attack, the number of players is always winning against high br defenders as long that number is near double and no one is afraid to die. This is because there is a cooldown period of 10 seconds for each player and in this case, for the defenders. Let's say for example that the enemy has a 200million BR player hiding inside a barrack and we are attacking with 5 of only 10m BR players. Most of the guys who are attacking are quitting after first death because they are afraid the BR or they think that there is no chance. This is very wrong impression when you are a team player and when your faction needs you. Yes, you will die but what is more important? If you die or if your faction succeed? Because of the cooldown time, the defender can kill only one of the five of us, the other four will hit the target. And after cooldown period the defender will kill again only one of us, the other four will keep hitting the barrack.  For every one who is sacrifice himself, 4 hits will be made at the barrack. If you are 10 players against one high br defender, then 9 hits will be made at the barrack. Keep working on it and soon you will bring the barrack down. This is the way to conquer in this game, to not be afraid to die, to insist no matter what br they have because the number of player can beat the high br defenders. Don't be afraid to sacrifice yourself, it's ony your character dying, it's not real life.

A second way is, instead of 5x10million BR players attacking one barrack with high br defender, follow one of your own high br attacker. Stay at the same block as him/her. If your friend has higher br, he will kill the enemy and you can keep hitting the barrack freely.

- In general and in defense, it is recommended to have high br players. Yes, i know what i wrote above but that was the attacking version. In the defending version the high br can keep the enemy away from your barracks (don't forget also the fear factor for a low br player facing a high br player) and with couple of towers around them and some mines, you can keep the enemy away for some time. Note that if the enemy insist coming in numbers, eventually you will lose your stronghold. But you can keep busy the enemy for as long as it takes to work on some other plan. An example for this is that you hold the center of the map but you want to enter also your enemy from the side borders. Put most of your high br players in the center with few towers and mines behind them near your barracks, and take the rest of your army to assault the right border. It's the same for you now, you are attacking in numbers as well since most players are not high br. Your high br defenders will keep the enemy busy while you can try and penetrade the enemy from the side. This is a good strategy also to split the enemy forces.

So what you have learn here is that high br is not playing the most important role in EW. The weapons (mines, towers, giants) can kill your high br enemies with one shot, no matter how high br they have. The number of players is always playing the most important role. When you make a strategy, it is good to know how many available players you have and make your plans based on it.

Lets see now with pictures a few tips and some tactical things which are good to do.

The blow up your enemies tip

As you can see at the picture, we have lost all barracks and only the Elite building is left. You can see on the left side how many are defending and how many are attacking (the white arrow). We are about to lose this stronghold soon, so what can we do? Use a Giant!! Since the number of attacking players is high (25), you can use a giant to blow them all away with one hit. You will get 25 kills with one shot which is good for your rankings, but you can also buy time for your teammates to come and assist if your faction really don't wanna lose this village.

Protect your towers

The first picture is about how to defend when you want to delay your enemy as we said above with high br players, towers and mines. The mines should be placed around the towers so the enemy wont have a chance to hit the tower when they don't have a shield on. Have also couple of players placed in front of the towers, they are blocking the side from where the enemy can attack.

The second picture is a tactical spot to place your tower. You will notice that i'm standing between the tower and the broken wall. Why am i sitting there? First of all, the enemy cannot jump over a wall from any spot they want, they can do it only from ladders. It doesn't matter also if the wall is down, they still can't jump over it. They can walk however over a broken wall, but walking to hit a tower is not the way to go, the tower will always hit you first before even have the chance to hit it. There are two ladders under me and the broken wall which the enemy can use to jump and hit the tower. If they choose to jump from the rigt ladder, the closest they can go is at the lower corner tile of the tower from which they cannot hit the tower. To hit anything at all, you need to stand at the tile directly in front of it. The enemy however can jump from the left ladder and the further they can go to hit the tower is at my position, which is blocked of course by me. This is a tactical way to be on the right spot to avoid your tower being hit.

The third picture is the other way to defend your tower and keep yor enemy away from the Elite building. The one tile to prevent your tower being hit is blocked by the Elite building and the other three spots are being blocked by "bodies". If the enemy wants to have access to hit the tower, they have either try to kill first the warriors in front of it, or wear a shield (you need to be Vip7 for that and it cost a lost to have many available all of the time). At the same time, the tower under protection can kill any enemy that will try to hit the tower.

*Note: The tower can kill anyone as long he/she is within three blocks away. The tower cannot kill anyone further than that.

How to attack a tower without a shield, suicide mode on

And again, this is just a game so don't be afraid to "die". The suicide mode is the most fun part of the game for me, i enjoy it and i always go first lol. We learned earlier than the tower can hit 3 blocks far (note that i'm sitting 4 blocks far away from it) but i can also jump three blocks far. I have activated here the "jump mode" to see how far can i jump and on which directions (the yellow tiles). If you don't know this, you can jump by clicking on the yellow runner at the bottom of your screen (see yellow arrow). The enemy has only one player defending there so they can cover only one side of the tower, which leaves me the left side open to jump and hit it. I call this "the suicide mode" because it is the same thing as i wrote earlier about 5 low br players attacking a barrack with one high br player inside. Gather there at my spot (four blocks away from the tower on any direction you want), the first one who will jump will be the one who will suicide so the next ones will have time to hit the tower. Towers as defenders have also a cooldown period, so you have enough time for each player to hit the tower twice before being killed.

Enjoy this tactic, it's for the good of your faction to move on and reall there is no reason to be afraid to sacrifice yourself. Put your faction's winning above everything.

*Note: There might be a mine where i am about to jump, so it's better to go together with 3 or more players.
*Note2: If you are fast enough, you can hit the tower before it manage to kill you. Just hit jump and then very very fast attack it.

One low br attacking player (a farmer) vs One high br defending player

One of the most annoying things in the game and i'm pretty sure you must all have face it at some point is when you want to attack a gate where you don't see any enemy. You learn tho very fast that a high br player is coming for you and he will go directly inside the building you are attacking. So what can you do? Simple use jump to get on the other side (the black X on the map), place a mine next to it at the entrance of the gate (the red X mark) and go back where you were and keep hitting the gate. The enemy will try to enter the gate and wait for your to hit but he will get blow up before he ever reach the gate. It's pretty sure that he will get pissed and will come again for you but you have aleady jump over again and placed a new mine, he/she just doesn't know that because when the enemy is getting killed, they go at the center of the map and they can't see what is going on. After that, only two things can happen: a) the defender will get very annoyed so he will just skip you and go for another target and b) this time he will not come to enter the gate but to jump over and next to you. In this case, simple wait and see on which side he will jump (left or right) and place a new mine (lool). I don't recommend to push your luck further but till that point, you have kill an enemy three times and hit the Gate also few times.

This isn't entirely true. The attacker can still see what's going on after being blown up by a mine and being sent to Elite Defender. It's pretty obvious that you're laying a new mine if you go around the gate again.

Block a Ram

Rams are mostly being used by farmers (attacking players) because they are getting good merit for each hit on the walls (Rams can only attack walls, so if there is no wall or only one wall is left and there are already two rams there, better don't waste your ram). Walls can be found in two type of strongholds, Forts and Castles. On one side of the walls there are four ladders spread out. Here on the picture you can see that i have jump over our wall and completely blocked the ram, he can't move anywhere and he is a sitting target for me. Yes, i know that the wall is down on the picture and that the ram can move forward but i didn't had time to take the picture earlier hahaha, so just imagine that there is still a wall there So, on one side the ram has the wall, on right side there is the ladder, behind it it's me and attacking it, and therefor the ram is being blocked and easy target for me.

You can see on my right side that two more players of me are attacking another ram. They are blocking the right side this time since the ladder is a bit further and the only way the ram can go is back. But if you put another player behind it, you will have again completely blocked it once again. In general, even if there is no wall or ladder or anything else and the ram is on wide open tile, go together with 3 more players and surround it. The ram will be blocked and you can kill it. Killing a ram is good for merits too.

Block Dragons attack

Now, this is the common problem that all factions are facing, the guys that don't read faction's chat for any reason and they kill the dragons no matter that it is best for tactical reason not to lose the stronghold (by letting the dragons taking it). There is another reason however to use this tactic and this is what i will explain here. This tactic is mostly being asked by more experience players but there are some kind of players that don't "obbey" lets say. It's either the farmers who don't read chat for any reason or either the spies. During the morning hours of eternal war you can only attack specific type of strongholds, those that are being called "village". When a village is in bad condition and you wanna lose it by dragons. Dragons can conquer strongholds when they bring down all buildings (same as with the players that is), and then the strongholds are becoming neutral. But since during morning attacks you can attack only villages, it is wise to let a village "fall" to dragons and then take it back. This tactic will give more merit to the players than just killing a dragon. Each building around the Elite has 60 hit points and there are total 8 (Barracks and Gates). If you choose to kill dragons instead then you get 10 black dragons with 20 hit points and 3 gold dragons with  30 hit points (you need br of around 20milion to kill gold dragon). So if you do the math, you get more merits when you let the village fall and then retake it. Some times (most of the times actually) this tactics is being sabotage either by the farmers as i said earlier or by the spies. Lets see a picture with a damaged village which you want to let it fall but ppls kill the dragons. What you want to do is to have dragons attacking at those buildings that can conquer a stronghold when they fall (the barracks and the Elite in middle, the gates don't play a role in conquer). At this picture we have 4 gates remaining, one barrack at 45 hits and then the Elite building. What we must do is to block the gates so the remaining dragons (11 as you see on top side) will attack the barrack only and the elite. No matters if there are spies to prevent the village from falling, the number of remaining dragons are enough to conquer it. Dragons will attack the same way as you attack a tower or a building, always from the direct block in front of the target, no one can hit something from the corners. Since we have to do with Gates, the gates have only two hitting points as the other two sides are being blocked by bushes. Simple put two players on each side of each gate and the dragons will have no other choice than to attack the remaing barrack and the elite building. I explain that to my faction as you see in our chat.
*Note: In this case you need a lot of patience because the spies and the farmers are using towers, giants, mines just to attack the dragons because the don't know or because they want to sabotage you. Don't bother much to convince ppl what is best for them also, if they don't wanna understand then simple do something else. Your personal health goes above all lol

Doing the more fair spying way

The most easy way to spy is to plan a player on your opponent. I don't approve that, this is a chicken tactic. However, without using this chicken tactic, there is another way to spy your enemy during the day. Keep a record where your enemy is being hit by dragons, how many times each stronghold is being hit and for how long the dragons where there, you can make a small estimation about the condition of that stronghold. When the battle will start at night, you will already an advance  because of this and you can make plans accordingly. This is an example picture where i have eyes on blue where they are being attacked at stronghold Sprite (it is a village which is why i'm interesting because if we manage to go down there by night, then the next day in the morning we can attack it. As i said earlier, during morning hours you can attack only villages). Red is being attacked at Molten which is also a village but it is a bit further. However, it is not bad to know where your enemy  is vulnerable. It is a good and honorable way to spy and any info during a war is welcomed.
