        I have no idea how it works. But I got the Emblem box via online login gift.
       

       

        Open up that sucker, and it gives out those shards.
       

       

        Even though I have the Thanksgiving shards in my inventory, the Thanksgiving upgrade is still greyed out. So I guess it\'s upgradable during the holiday. (I only circled the part I moused over)
       

        Edit:  Actually, I have to collect 100 shards to activate the Thanksgiving emblem bonus. At the part I underlined, you can see that I got 20/100 Thanksgiving shards.
       

        Plus, the only change with the picture is that I added a cyan underline.

        its should be like updating hero fate skills,;

        you get which ever emblem shards, and go to the menu and use them there

        so it does clog up your backpacks waiting for 100 of each to use
